Recently I presented a workshop on Low tox skincare and Essential oils for Healthier Living I thought I would share with you some of what our friends experienced during the Class.

"Low Tox Skincare and Essential Oils for Healthier Living."

Embracing Low Tox Living: Skincare, Essential Oils & Wellness

My name is Michelle, and together with Jo, we are excited to dive into the world of low tox living and skincare. Special thanks to Melanie for hosting us in this wonderful space. If you're curious about Reiki or her incredible sound healing vibration bed, be sure to chat with her after our session. Also, don't forget to enjoy our morning tea later on, and if you're craving a coffee, Melanie has a fantastic menu to explore.

Why Low Tox Matters for Your Skin and Well-being

Today, we’re going to explore low tox living, particularly focusing on skincare. Living low tox for over ten years, I've learned that making the switch doesn’t need to feel overwhelming. It's about gradually removing harmful chemicals from your daily life and replacing them with natural alternatives that support health and well-being.

Before we begin, we’ll set the tone with a Scent Tent featuring Cedarwood essential oil. Cedarwood is a soothing, grounding oil that’s perfect for calming a busy mind. I often use it as a natural deodorant or to relax before bed. It’s simple—just rub a drop in your hands, inhale deeply, and feel the calming effects. This grounding practice helps us connect with the power of natural ingredients.

Supercharge Your Day with Ningxia Red

Next, we’ll do a tasting of Ningxia Red, a nutrient-packed drink that is a personal favorite. It’s rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants—did you know that just 60ml of Ningxia Red contains as many antioxidants as 1628 blueberries? This superfood from the Ningxia province of China has been a game-changer for me, helping with weight loss, reducing inflammation, improving skin, hair, and nails, and even aiding sleep. If you’re interested in learning more about Ningxia and its benefits, feel free to ask Jo or me after class.

The Power of Essential Oils

Essential oils are at the heart of low tox living. These potent plant extracts can transform not only your skincare routine but your overall wellness. Just one drop of peppermint oil is as strong as 26 cups of peppermint tea! Essential oils raise your body's frequency and support a range of health benefits. In fact, oils like frankincense, which we’ll be using today in our Glow Serum, have been revered for centuries—there are over 188 references to essential oils in the Bible.

For skincare, not all oils are created equal. I’ve chosen to use Young Living essential oils because of their therapeutic-grade quality. The purity of these oils means you can safely use them in your DIY skincare products, unlike some synthetic alternatives.

The Hidden Dangers of Toxins in Our Homes

Now, let's talk about why low tox living is more important than ever. Over the past 30 years, we've seen alarming increases in health conditions such as cancer, behavioural disorders, autoimmune diseases, and chronic skin issues. What could be the cause? Many researchers believe toxins in our homes play a significant role.

One major culprit is synthetic fragrances, also known as phthalates or “fragrance” on labels. These chemicals are endocrine disruptors, meaning they interfere with our hormones and can lead to serious conditions like early-onset puberty, endometriosis, infertility, and even some cancers. Shockingly, the average Australian woman applies 180 chemicals to her skin each morning, just through personal care products!

How to Start Living Low Tox

Transitioning to a low tox lifestyle doesn’t have to be complicated. Begin by eliminating harmful products one by one—swap out synthetic skincare for natural, essential oil-based alternatives. Avoid products labeled with "fragrance" or "parfum," and choose brands that prioritize transparency and purity. Think of your body like a bucket—over time, constant exposure to these toxins fills the bucket, and eventually, it overflows, leading to illness. By making small, mindful changes, you can lower your toxic load and improve your long-term health.

In conclusion, low tox living is about empowering yourself with knowledge and making healthier choices for your body and the planet. Whether it's through essential oils, clean skincare, or simple swaps around the home, every little bit helps. If you have any questions or want to learn more about essential oils or low tox products, don’t hesitate to reach out to me I would love to help you on this Journey.
